Important Update from Pintler Pets

September 15, 2026

For 23 years, our staff, volunteers, partners, and adopters have made a real difference for animals in need — a heartfelt thank‑you to our founders for creating and sustaining this wonderful program! Now, Pintler Pets is entering a new chapter. Like any long‑standing organization, leadership handoffs and program resets are needed to keep the mission strong, and we’re making thoughtful changes to support our long‑term stability.

As we enter this transition period, Pintler Pets has paused all new animal intake until further notice. This pause gives us the time and space to stabilize the organization, complete important building repairs, and thoughtfully reset our leadership and programs.

We also made the difficult but necessary decision to transfer the adoptable animals in our care to trusted shelter partners across Montana, ensuring they could continue receiving the care and opportunities for adoption they deserve. Thanks to the incredible support of our shelter partners, animals were safely transferred to Stafford Animal Shelter in Livingston, Heart of the Valley in Bozeman, Bitter Root Humane Association in Hamilton, and Beaverhead Animal Shelter in Dillon, with many already finding loving adoptive homes. We are deeply grateful to these organizations for opening their doors to our animals, and to the volunteers and community members who generously donated their time and provided transportation to help each animal safely reach their receiving shelter.

We remain fully committed to our mission and the greater good of all animal shelters across our region! We are working hard toward a successful reopening and, in advance, thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition.

As always, Pintler Pets relies on private donations, fundraising, and VOLUNTEERS. If having an animal shelter in our community matters to you, your support — in any form — is truly critical right now.

We’re looking forward to what’s ahead. Stay tuned...
